Overview

Dr. Rivera Aguerri has extensive experience in general, bariatric, and minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery. He is certified by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Costa Rica. He serves as director of the surgery department at CIMA Hospital in San José, Costa Rica, a state-of-the-art general hospital accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI). Dr. Rivera Aguerri’s more than 2,000 laparoscopic procedures and credentials are recognized worldwide by the International College of Surgeons (FICS), the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and the Latin American Association of Endoscopic Surgeons (ALACE). He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
