Bingo! I’m also a Dr. Fielding patient! He was the first doctor who truly saw me as a person, not just the weight. From the very start, he made it clear that it wasn’t my fault that things spiraled to my highest weight, and that perspective changed everything for me. Every bit of advice I share on this sub comes from what I’ve learned from him. I’m so happy to meet another bandster who understands just how amazing he is!
I love my band! If you had yours done by Dr. George Fielding, you know what I mean — he’s the best! I had my surgery a little over a year ago, and I’m down 130 lbs and finally hit my target. 🎯 I’ll admit, I don’t always track my intake, but my band is pretty tight now, so I naturally don’t eat a lot. In Dr. George’s words: “You can eat whatever the hell you want, I could care less. Just do it in moderation.” So happy I found someone in the NYU network who truly understands! 😁
I had my procedure done at NYU’s Weight Management Department with Dr. Fielding, and I highly, highly recommend their program. I’m now seven years post-op, and I’ve lost 150 pounds and kept it off. The entire team is amazing—they show more concern for my health than even my primary care physician or other doctors. Believe it or not, I got the Lap-Band. I know it’s not the most popular procedure these days, but it works for me. At my last adjustment, they even told me about a new Lap-Band with FDA approval that eliminates the trapping issue many people experienced with the older version. What I love about this practice is that they make you feel heard and supported. Dr. Fielding is incredibly empathetic—he even has the Lap-Band himself, so he truly understands what his patients are going through. The nurse practitioners are also wonderful, always taking the time to talk without making you feel rushed. I also appreciate the diversity and inclusivity in their practice. The patients are from all walks of life, and they even highlight their staff’s journeys—there’s a flyer in the waiting room promoting a book written by one of the nurses (who is LGBTQ) about his own weight loss journey. I can’t say with 100% certainty that this practice will meet everyone’s needs, but for me, it’s been a life-changing experience.
