Dr. Jorge Sosa is a board-certified general surgeon with a specialization in bariatric surgery and trauma care. He has been practicing for over 24 years, with over 10,000 successful bariatric procedures to his name. Dr. Sosa graduated from the University Of South Florida Morsani College Of Medicine with his degree in medicine, before completing his residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. 

A pioneer in laparoscopic surgery during his tenure at Jackson Memorial, Dr. Sosa extended his expertise to the broader South Florida community by founding The Laparoscopic Institute of South Florida. The center initially focused on anti-reflux surgery, and he continued to share his knowledge through national and international teaching engagements.

In 2001, after completing specialized training in bariatric surgery, Dr. Sosa discovered a new passion in this transformative field. Over the past 24 years, he has devoted himself to Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery, emphasizing a holistic, patient-centered approach. He developed a comprehensive pre- and post-operative care program, addressing the long-term health and success of his patients. To further support their journey, Dr. Sosa launched his own bariatric multivitamin line and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team—including nutritionists, psychologists, health coaches, and fitness trainers—to ensure each patient achieves lasting wellness.
