Dr. Pankti R. Patel is a board-certified general surgeon and bariatric surgery specialist based out of Roslyn Heights, New York. Dr. Patel received her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, where she also completed a residency in general surgery. Following this, Dr. Patel completed a fellowship at the Magee-Women’s Hospital of UPMC Health System.

I had a gastric sleeve with Dr. Patel at the New York Bariatric Group (NYBG) in April 2023. The entire process was very straightforward, as they handle nearly everything for you. All pre-testing and exams could be scheduled on the same day in their office, and both the psychologist and nutritionist appointments were done via Zoom. The surgery and recovery were quick—I rested for two days and then was back on my feet. I lost 73 pounds initially but stalled, so I began taking Tirzepatide in August 2024 and lost an additional 37 pounds. On April 1, I’ll be returning to their plastic surgery center for a 360 lower body lift with Dr. Small. My advice to anyone considering it: don’t hesitate—just do it.
